In most cities on the African continent, Infrastructural services, ranging from water supplies to waste disposal, are woefully inadequate. The majority of urban inhabitants, particularly the poor who live in low income settlements, are deprived of the means to a healthy, productive life. Less than two thirds of the urban population have access to clean water, while more than half the population do not have adequate access to sanitation facilities.
