Pakistani earthquake victims receive financial assistance

The first batch of Pakistani rural landless who lost land as a result of the 2005 earthquake last week started receiving financial assistance from the government of Pakistan for the purchase of new land.
As a result of the earthquake thousands of families were unable to rebuild their houses due to landslides and flooding which have destroyed their land.
Web4Dev attracts attention at Global ICT for Youth Forum in Geneva

Participants at the Global Forum on Youth and ICT for Development welcomed the chance to attend the forthcoming Web for Development Conference in Nairobi 28-30 November. At a workshop on Youth, ICTs and urbanization, young speakers suggested that access to information and communication technology be treated as a basic service and proposed that all new housing incorporate wiring for Internet connectivity, together with the electricity and water supply. Web4Dev will explore Internet solutions for youth, the biggest group of Internet users.
